Ahead of the official Oneness launch, we dedicated BBC One’s biggest day of the year to TV fans.
On Christmas Day 2016 groups of TV fans were given the once-in-a-lifetime chance of being BBC One continuity announcers.
We pre-recorded 9 programme announcements from genuine fans of BBC One’s biggest shows, including Strictly Come Dancing, Eastenders and a special tribute from some four legged regal friends for the Queen’s Speech!
The in-vision continuity was a first for BBC One and shown in the junctions to introduce the shows.
The average viewing figures for the day was 9million with BBC One airing 8 out of 10 of the most watched shows on that day.
BRIEF
Christmas Day continuity delivered by real fans to the viewers at home.
We selected groups of people to deliver continuity that was relevant to their hobbies, such as bakers for Bake Off and pregnant mothers announced Call the Midwife.
